About this tool
Convert PNG files to JPG on your own device, with a quality slider so you control the size-versus-detail trade-off. This is the right conversion when a PNG is holding photographic content, where JPG is typically three to five times smaller with no visible difference. Transparent areas are flattened onto white, since JPG has no alpha channel.
The rule of thumb: if the PNG contains a photograph, converting to JPG is almost always the right call and the saving is large. If it contains a screenshot, a logo, a chart or anything with hard edges and flat colour, leave it as PNG — JPG will add visible artefacts around the edges while saving comparatively little.
The image compression guide explains how to tell which case you are in.
